Pro-crypto Lawyer John Deaton VS. Elizabeth Warren

Pro-crypto lawyer John Deaton won the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts and will face Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren in November. Deaton, known for his advocacy for Ripple (XRP), defeated two Republican candidates, including Bob Antonellis and Ian Cain, with 64% of the votes counted so far, according to the Associated Press.

Elizabeth Warren, seeking a third term, is running unopposed for the Democratic nomination. She has been a strong critic of the crypto industry, accusing it of enabling illegal activities and pushing for stricter regulations.

Deaton’s campaign received significant support from crypto industry leaders like the Winklevoss twins and Ripple executives. The Commonwealth Unity Fund, a crypto-focused political action committee (PAC), contributed over $1 million to support his Senate run. Deaton raised around $1.7 million as of July 31, 2024, according to Federal Election Commission records.
