Telegram Goes Down in Multiple Countries

Telegram, the messaging app known for its privacy features, started experiencing major outages on October 3 at around 10:30 am UTC. Users from several countries couldn’t send or receive messages or connect to the app properly.

Outage Affects Several Countries

The outage affected users from Ukraine, Russia, Germany, Poland, and other countries. According to Downdetector, many people started reporting connection issues at the same time. Some users on Reddit confirmed that Telegram wasn’t working for them either. One person mentioned, “My chats are there, but I can’t load any new messages.”

Previous Outages and Current Situation

Telegram has had problems like this before. In June, the app was down for over an hour, and a similar incident happened in April, lasting almost two hours. These outages are becoming a frequent frustration for users.

CEO in the Spotlight

On top of the technical issues, Telegram’s CEO, Pavel Durov, is currently still facing legal challenges in France. He has been under investigation for several charges related to illegal activities on the platform. Recently, Durov also revealed that Telegram has been sharing criminals’ IP addresses with authorities since 2018. Neither Durov nor Telegram has addressed this latest outage yet.
