Ripple Co-Founder Donated $1 Million in XRP to Kamala Harris’ Campaign

The crypto industry is moving towards backing both candidates, even though in general it favors Trump more.

Chris Larsen, co-founder of Ripple, donated 1.75 million XRP (worth $1 million at the time) to Kamala Harris’ 2024 campaign. The donation was made to Future Forward PAC on August 14, 2024, making it the first crypto contribution to her campaign, as reported by the FEC.

Crypto Donations for Harris: Clearing the Air

There was some confusion about Harris’ campaign accepting crypto. It was later clarified in September that her campaign wasn’t taking crypto directly, but the PAC supporting her was. As of October, the PAC has raised over $200 million for the Harris-Walz ticket.

Business Leaders Backing Harris

Larsen wasn’t alone in showing support. He joined a group of 87 business executives who wrote a letter backing Harris for her efforts to boost American industries. They’re confident she’ll keep the U.S. business-friendly if she wins.

Crypto Industry Pushing for Change

The crypto community has also been trying to sway Harris’ stance on digital currencies. They raised $100,000 for her campaign, hoping she’ll take a more supportive approach to digital assets. In September, Harris finally spoke about crypto, saying she supports innovation in the space—but her message still aligned with current policies.
