According to a Fortune report, the game is expected to launch in late April and will allow players to build digital cities and earn crypto rewards. Bill Zanker, a close associate of Trump and a key figure in his previous crypto projects, is leading the development. While Zanker’s spokesperson denied direct similarities to Monopoly, sources indicate that he approached Hasbro in May 2024 to license a Trump-branded version of the classic board game.
This gaming initiative adds to Trump’s growing involvement in the cryptocurrency space. His ventures include the “Official Trump” memecoin, various NFT collections, and the decentralized finance project World Liberty Financial. In February, Trump’s company, DTTM Operations, filed trademarks for a Trump-branded metaverse and NFT marketplace, signaling a deeper commitment to digital assets. Despite the ambitious plans, the Web3 gaming industry faces headwinds. A recent report from DappRadar highlighted a 6% decline in daily active users for Web3 games in the first quarter of 2025. Additionally, investments in the sector dropped by 71% quarter-over-quarter, totaling $91 million. Analysts attribute this downturn to macroeconomic challenges, including trade tensions and geopolitical uncertainties, which have dampened investor enthusiasm.
