XRP’s price surge and the buzz around the Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin launch have caused a spike in activity on Xaman Wallet, a self-custodial app for the XRP Ledger (XRPL).
Weekly active users on Xaman have jumped 250% since summer, reaching over 212,000. This includes 80,000 new users, as XRP briefly became the third-largest cryptocurrency by market cap on Dec. 2, according to COO Robert Kiuru.
Ripple’s Investment in Xaman
Xaman, previously called Xumm, rebranded in 2023. Ripple’s investment arm, Ripplex, supported its development by funding XRPL Labs in 2019 and 2020. The wallet was created by Wietse Wind, a well-known Ripple developer behind tools like XRParrot and XRPTipBot.
Smart Contracts and Seamless Transactions
Xaman enables smart contracts through the Xahau Network, a blockchain fork of XRPL. It uses “Hooks,” a lightweight tool for adding custom features, developed by XRPL Labs.
The wallet also integrates with most XRPL projects, offering smooth and secure transactions through its “Sign in with Xumm” feature.
