What Was Proposed?
On Dec. 10, Microsoft shareholders voted against a plan to invest part of the company’s profits in Bitcoin. The proposal, from the National Center for Public Policy Research (NCPPR), suggested Bitcoin could diversify Microsoft’s reserves and benefit shareholders.
Why Bitcoin?
The NCPPR argued that Bitcoin is the future of technology and cited its growing adoption by companies like BlackRock. They claimed investing even a small amount could reduce risks and create value.
Microsoft’s Stand
Microsoft’s board rejected the idea, calling Bitcoin too volatile for corporate treasury use. They said the company already manages its finances effectively and doesn’t need Bitcoin to diversify.
Outcome
The shareholders agreed with the board, voting to keep Microsoft’s treasury strategy unchanged.
