NYDFS Grants BitLicense to Anchorage Digital Subsidiary

Approval for Crypto Services in New York
Anchorage Digital, a crypto-focused bank, announced that its New York subsidiary has been granted a BitLicense by the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). This license will enable Anchorage to offer regulated crypto trading services to New York clients starting in 2025, according to CEO Nathan McCauley.

BitLicense Background
Introduced in 2015, the BitLicense framework regulates cryptocurrency businesses operating in New York. Anchorage’s approval marks the 34th BitLicense granted by NYDFS, reflecting the state’s ongoing efforts to oversee the crypto industry.

Pending Official Recognition
Although Anchorage announced the approval on Dec. 16, its name was not yet listed among regulated entities on the NYDFS website at the time of the announcement.
