DeltaPrime, a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform, was hacked for $4.8 million in digital assets, including ARB and AVAX tokens. The attack is still being investigated, but it started when the hacker added liquidity to the platform, as reported by PeckShield, a firm that tracks blockchain activity.
What Happened on Arbitrum and Avalanche?
The hack affected both the Arbitrum and Avalanche blockchains. In response, the DeltaPrime team paused the platform’s operations on those networks while they look into the breach. This comes at a time when crypto hacks in 2024 have been on the rise, raising concerns about security in the industry.
Crypto Hacks Are Getting Worse
This attack is part of a bigger issue in the crypto world. In just the third quarter of 2024, hackers stole over $750 million. With nearly $2 billion stolen already this year, 2024 is on track to surpass last year’s total.
Hackers Targeting More Than Just Smart Contracts
While flaws in smart contracts are still a problem, hackers are now increasingly going after other weak spots, like private key leaks. These often happen through phishing attacks or poor storage practices, and they’ve led to major losses in the crypto space.
