David Sacks, the former PayPal executive and co-host of the All-In podcast, has been named the “White House A.I. & Crypto Czar” by President-elect Donald Trump. A known supporter of Solana (SOL), Sacks is also an investor in the crypto-focused firm Multicoin Capital.
Solana Advocate and Investor
Sacks has openly expressed his support for Solana, which he considers a strong competitor to Ethereum. In a 2021 episode of his podcast, he called Solana the “biggest turnaround” of late 2023 and shared that he held onto his SOL investments even after the FTX collapse, despite rumors of dumping his holdings.
He has also highlighted Solana’s potential to overtake Ethereum as the leading blockchain platform, citing its smart contract capabilities and strong backing from Silicon Valley investors.
Multicoin Capital Involvement
Sacks invested in Multicoin Capital back in 2018, praising the firm for its ability to assess emerging blockchain technologies. Multicoin is heavily focused on Solana, and Sacks’ involvement demonstrates his long-term confidence in the ecosystem.
Denying Rumors
In December 2023, Sacks dismissed accusations that he and others sold their discounted Solana holdings to retail investors. He clarified that he continued to hold the asset, boasting about its impressive 92% annual returns.
