Trump Media is giving Truth Social a crypto twist. The company now lets users turn “gems” into CRO, the native token of Crypto.com.
How It Works
Subscribers of the Patriot Package on Truth+ streaming get special perks, including digital gems. These gems can be earned by joining activities across Trump Media’s platforms. The gems can then be swapped into CRO tokens using Crypto.com’s wallet tech.
From Utility Token Plans to CRO
This is a shift from Trump Media’s earlier talk about making its own token. Back in April, CEO Devin Nunes told shareholders the company was looking at a utility token to pay for subscriptions and power its rewards. That token hasn’t launched yet. Rumors about a Truth Social memecoin also made the rounds, but Donald Trump Jr. quickly shot them down.
Partnership With Crypto.com
This isn’t the first Trump Media x Crypto.com move. They teamed up earlier this year to create ETFs tracking digital assets with a “Made in America” focus. Those ETFs will launch in 2025, pending approval.
Trump Media also struck a $105M deal to buy 684.4M CRO tokens as part of a $6.4B digital-asset strategy. The stash is kept with Crypto.com’s institutional custody, opening the door for staking.
