South Korea Deploys AI to Catch Crypto Market Manipulation

South Korea is pushing harder on crypto market oversight, and this time it brought smarter machines.
The country’s Financial Supervisory Service has upgraded its AI tools to monitor digital asset trading without waiting for humans to blink.

The system, called VISTA, now scans trading data across many time periods at once.
It uses automated detection to spot price manipulation patterns that once took investigators days to notice.

Officials say tests showed strong results.
The AI found every manipulation case already known and flagged extra suspicious activity that manual reviews missed.

The regulator is not done spending.
A new budget of 170 million won is set for 2026 to expand features like tracking coordinated trader groups and tracing dirty funds.
