Romania Installs First Bitcoin ATM in a Post Office

Romania just dropped a BTC bomb at the post office! Poșta Română teamed up with Bitcoin Romania to install the country’s first Bitcoin ATM in Tulcea.

And it’s not stopping there. More machines are coming soon to Alexandria, Piatra Neamț, Botoșani, and Nădlac.

Why the postal pivot to crypto? Romania’s postal service is modernizing, bringing digital tech to remote spots and boosting financial access where banks might be scarce.

Putting Bitcoin ATMs in public post offices is a bold move. It signals growing crypto love from the government and public agencies.

Crypto going mainstream:
Bitcoin is inching into daily life. Businesses now accept it, institutions hold it in reserves, and yes—nation-states are stacking sats too.

Binance says nearly 30 million wallets hold over $100 in BTC—a 25% increase in a year.

Still early days:
Despite the hype, only 4% of the global population owns Bitcoin, according to a 2025 River report. Most holders live in the U.S., where around 14% now own BTC.

Even with a $2 trillion market cap, Bitcoin hasn’t scratched the surface of its potential. If it ever captures half the store-of-value market (think gold, stocks, real estate), it could be worth over $225 trillion.

So yeah, that little ATM in Tulcea? It might just be part of something way bigger.

What do you think?
