Raoul Pal Predicts 4B Crypto Users by 2030

Former hedge fund manager Raoul Pal believes crypto is heading for massive growth. He sees the number of crypto users hitting 4 billion by 2030, about one in eight people on Earth.

Crypto vs Internet Growth

Pal compared crypto adoption to the internet’s early days. Back in 2000, the internet had 187 million users, growing at 76% per year. Crypto has grown even faster, averaging 137% yearly over the past nine years, reaching 659 million users in 2024.

The Road to 1 Billion Users

Pal expects crypto adoption to grow 43% next year. At that pace, the global user base could pass 1 billion by 2030.

$100 Trillion Market Cap

Pal also predicts crypto’s total market cap could top $100 trillion within the next decade. He says two forces drive this: debasement and adoption.
(Debasement means money losing value as more is printed. Adoption is how fast people start using a technology.)

Critics Raise Doubts

Not everyone agrees. Some argue wallet counts aren’t reliable since people can open multiple wallets. Others say the numbers don’t reflect true active users.

Pal pushed back, noting that people also have multiple IP addresses. Reports from Triple-A suggest over 560 million crypto users in 2024, while Andreessen Horowitz estimates 30–60 million monthly active users.
