Tether Co-Founder Predicts All Money Will Be Stablecoins by 2030

Tether co-founder Reeve Collins believes the future of money is digital and stable. By 2030, he expects all global currencies — dollars, euros, yen — to run on blockchains as stablecoins.

Speaking at Token2049 in Singapore, Collins said stablecoins are simply traditional currencies operating on blockchain rails. He argued that within five years, they’ll be the primary method to transfer money worldwide.

Collins praised the U.S. government’s recent positive shift on crypto policy. He said this move has unlocked opportunities, with banks and major financial players now rushing into blockchain finance. Stablecoins, he noted, are the star attraction.

He added that tokenized assets offer more transparency and efficiency than old systems. But risks remain, from hacks to wallet complexity. People may choose between full control of their crypto or trusting custodial services, much like they do with banks today.
